Music Therapist Positions – Full-Time

We are excited to announce openings for full-time Music Therapists to join our growing and dynamic private practice in Missouri!

 

We are currently hiring for:

  • One full-time position based in Springfield, MO 

  • One full-time position based in Joplin, MO

​​

Our Springfield clinic is located on the beautiful campus of Drury University and provides a spacious, collaborative, and inspiring clinical environment. Our Joplin location is in a clinic where most of the sessions take place. Both positions offer the opportunity to work within a supportive and experienced team while serving a wide variety of client populations across the lifespan.

These positions also provide a unique opportunity to serve as a practicum supervisor and play an integral role in the training and mentorship of music therapy students.

At the Center for Music Therapy and Wellness, our music therapists work with diverse populations including:

  • ​Children, teens, adults, and older adults 

  • Individuals with developmental disabilities 

  • Children with learning disabilities 

  • Teens experiencing behavioral challenges or substance abuse issues 

  • Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease 

  • Residents in assisted living and memory care settings 

Therapy sessions may take place in clinic settings, schools, assisted living communities, and client homes throughout the surrounding metro areas. Some travel is required. A company vehicle is provided for the Springfield location for most work-related travel needs.  Mileage reimbursement will be provided when personal vehicles are used.

These are salaried positions offering the security of consistent pay, flexible scheduling, and strong professional support within a thriving private practice setting.

Qualifications

We are seeking motivated, compassionate, and creative professionals who thrive in a flexible and rewarding clinical environment.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) 

  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience preferred, especially with developmental disabilities 

  • NMT training/certification or interest in pursuing NMT preferred but not required 

  • Strong knowledge of American Music Therapy Association Standards of Practice 

  • Excellent musicianship including piano, guitar, and vocal skills 

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities

  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team culture 

  • Reliable transportation 

  • Candidates should be energetic, organized, adaptable, and passionate about using music therapy to enrich the lives of individuals across diverse settings and needs.

  • Willingness to work some evening hours and occasional weekends as needed.

 Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality individual and group music therapy services across the lifespan 

  • Complete assessments and develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals 

  • Implement evidence-based music therapy interventions targeting cognitive, emotional, social, behavioral, communication, motor, and wellness outcomes 

  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment approaches as appropriate 

  • Maintain timely and professional clinical documentation including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries 

  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary professionals to support client success 

  • Manage scheduling and caseload responsibilities in coordination with clinic staff
